Certainly Apple has threatened software projects in the past with blocking them on the AppStore if they dare to also support Android. It's quite possible that the framework has been optimized for iOS devices (despite their small market share) and not for Android. However evernote 10 is written using a cross-platform framework and i have no idea how things like task-scheduling are handled. The evernote app should be using this API. This is useful for background activities. There could be legitimate reasons for this, so the play store doesn't prohibit this sort of behavior by default.Īndroid also has an API which says "run this bit of code in the next time slot the OS gives me" this is usually once every minute or something like that. The nightmare scenario is that an app could do things like issue web calls a thousand times a second in the background. Because Android is a full multi-tasking operating system as well, it is very careful about which apps are allowed to hog the battery. Mobile devices tend to have some form of battery optimization. Makes me think I need to keep an eye on Battery Optimization setting and observe its relation to any notification failures. *** Update 2: Set reminder on desktop with Android app not open. ** Update: Battery Optimization setting appeared to permit Android notification 15 minutes after being set on desktop. **Note: I did find Battery Optimization for Evernote set to 'Intelligent Control' which I had turned off previously. I wish any popular Evernote YouTuber would get the company's attention and press to get this fixed. I have spent more time with Evernote tech support, testing and providing feedback than all other apps combined. I cannot believe after this amount of time reminders in Evernote cannot be counted upon. I have several "free" apps that I can rely on for this. Cannot count on placing a reminder in desktop and having it come up in my phone. Again, who knows if this will revert back to not working next week, but at least I have a functional if annoying approach to fix it. I gave this a few test runs by setting note reminders for a couple minutes out from current time and it worked with every attempt. In short, I had to (re)sync my Google account within Evernote (I disconnected and reconnected it), then "choose calendars" specifically in the Evernote calendar settings (at the bottom of the Evernote home page within the app is where you can find the calendar itself, which contains the settings options), and then close out of Evernote and reopen it (which I actually did a few times). The general idea is to fiddle with Evernote settings rather than Android settings. I fiddled with some Android settings to no avail, but then tweaked Evernote settings themselves and have gotten it to work! Admittedly, it's just working *today* and who knows about tomorrow or next week, or what happens after the next update. While I didn't find that answer, I tried testing a few things out myself. I found this thread while looking for an answer to the same issue, unsurprisingly.
